Mercator vs Peter's Projection Maps

Today in class we were given time to write the differences between the Mercator and Peter's Projection maps. On the Mercator map, Greenland and Africa appear to be the same size, but Peter's Projection map shows us that Africa is actually 14 times larger than Greenland. On the Mercator map, Europe is larger than South America, but South America is 6.9 million square miles and Europe is  3.8 million square miles, and Peter's Projection map accurately shows us that. Mexico is 0.1 million square miles bigger than Alaska, but Alaska is drawn 3 times larger than Mexico on the Mercator map. In the Mercator map, Germany looks like it's in the middle, but it's actually in the northernmost quarter of the earth on Peter's Projection map. Greece Test Part 1

Today in class we took part one of the Greek tests. I feel like I did pretty good in this test. There were probably only three questions that I was unsure of but other than that I felt pretty confident in my answers. I thought that this test would be pretty difficult for me because I missed class yesterday and didn't take as much time as I usually do to study, but I felt like it went pretty well. There were three short answer questions, and they were to describe three geographical things about Greece and how they influenced their culture, what is your opinion about the Homeric question, and what's the significance of the "Allegory of the Cave." For the first question I wrote about their mountainous land and how it wasn't fertile, so they needed to trade; they were surrounded by water, so sea-bourne trade was a big thing for them; and they had nice weather, meaning that they participated in a lot of outdoor activities. Ancient Greece Theater

Our cyber assignment today is to  look at p. 136 from the textbook and answer the following questions about Greek theater. (1) The two kinds of dramas that were performed in Greek theater were tragedies and dramas. Tragedies were serious dramas and they had common themes like love, hate, war, or betrayal. They usually have main characters known as "tragic heroes" who also have a "tragic fall" which would lead to their downfall. Comedies contained scenes that had slapstick situations and crude humor. The playwrights often made fun of politics, respected people, and ideas of time. (2b) The movie Dumb and Dumber can be related to Greek Comedies because it uses slapstick and crude humor because the two main characters are very slow and they are put in situations where they don't know how to act properly.
