Greece Test Part 1

Today in class we took part one of the Greek tests. I feel like I did pretty good in this test. There were probably only three questions that I was unsure of but other than that I felt pretty confident in my answers. I thought that this test would be pretty difficult for me because I missed class yesterday and didn't take as much time as I usually do to study, but I felt like it went pretty well. There were three short answer questions, and they were to describe three geographical things about Greece and how they influenced their culture, what is your opinion about the Homeric question, and what's the significance of the "Allegory of the Cave." For the first question I wrote about their mountainous land and how it wasn't fertile, so they needed to trade; they were surrounded by water, so sea-bourne trade was a big thing for them; and they had nice weather, meaning that they participated in a lot of outdoor activities. Test Review/Rewatching Peter's Projection Video

We started out the class today by rewatching the Gall Peter's Projection map video, and we played a game called "ok, stop", where someone would call out ok stop during a point in the video where they had a question or a statement to make. After rewatching the video, we had a discussion about whether or not we agreed with the video's suggestion about flipping the map upside down. I personally don't think that it matters which direction the map is in, because they are both accurate. Then, we were handed back the tests that we took on Friday that were on excellence. We went through the whole test, by having everyone go in a line and state the correct answer, and if we got an answer wrong, we could write down the right one so we would know it in the future. Ancient Greece Theater

Our cyber assignment today is to  look at p. 136 from the textbook and answer the following questions about Greek theater. (1) The two kinds of dramas that were performed in Greek theater were tragedies and dramas. Tragedies were serious dramas and they had common themes like love, hate, war, or betrayal. They usually have main characters known as "tragic heroes" who also have a "tragic fall" which would lead to their downfall. Comedies contained scenes that had slapstick situations and crude humor. The playwrights often made fun of politics, respected people, and ideas of time. (2b) The movie Dumb and Dumber can be related to Greek Comedies because it uses slapstick and crude humor because the two main characters are very slow and they are put in situations where they don't know how to act properly.
